  • 1 cup Water
For the Cocktail

  • 1 ounce Amaro Nonino
  • 1 ounce Fresh Lemon Juice freshly squeezed preferred
  • 1 ounce Strawberry Simple Syrup cooled
  • 1 teaspoon Pink Peppercorn for garnish
  • fresh Ice for chilling the cocktail
  • to taste Soda Water optional
For Garnishing
  • fresh Fresh Strawberries for garnish
  • 1 Lemon Wedge
  • 1 Twisted Lemon Peel

Equipment

  • cocktail shaker
  • Saucepan
  • fine mesh sieve

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by hulling and slicing about a cup of fresh strawberries. In a saucepan, combine the strawberries with equal parts granulated sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar fully dissolves, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes until the syrup is a rich red color. Once ready, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and let it cool completely.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with fresh ice to chill your ingredients. Pour in 2 ounces of rye whiskey, followed by 1 ounce of Amaro Nonino, and add in 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Next, incorporate 1 ounce of the cooled strawberry simple syrup you just made. Secure the shaker lid tightly.
  3. Shake the cocktail vigorously for about 15 seconds. After shaking, take your favorite old fashioned glass and fill it halfway with fresh ice. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.
  4. To elevate your Sun-Kissed Sipper, sprinkle a few crushed pink peppercorns on top for a hint of spice and visual appeal. Add a fresh strawberry or a slice of lemon on the rim of the glass to enhance the presentation.

Notes

Choose ripe strawberries for maximum sweetness. Avoid high heat when making your strawberry syrup. Always use freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor. Lightly muddling pink peppercorns can release more flavor nuances. Chill all ingredients for the optimal experience.
