  • 1/2 cup Bourbon substitute with brandy, sherry, or extra orange juice for non-alcoholic
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Orange Juice use freshly squeezed for best flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Whole Grain Mustard optional
For the Ham
  • 8 lbs Spiral Sliced Ham fully cooked, bone-in for maximum flavor
  • 1 cup Water to keep the ham moist during cooking

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Saucepan
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Baking Dish

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup, bourbon, fresh orange juice, Dijon mustard, and whole grain mustard (if using). Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes until glaze thickens.
  2. Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of your slow cooker. Place the spiral sliced ham cut side up in the slow cooker.
  3. Carefully pour the prepared maple glaze over the ham, ensuring it drizzles into the crevices between the slices.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set on low heat. Cook for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F, basting with glaze once or twice.
  5. For a sticky finish, transfer the ham to a baking dish, brush with reserved glaze, and broil for 3-5 minutes.

Consider preparing the glaze the night before to save time. Basting every 30 minutes adds flavor and achieves a sticky finish.
