Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium heat.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
In the last minute of cooking, spoon pizza sauce over each patty, then top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Cover the grill or skillet to help melt the cheese.
Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun and adding any additional toppings you desire. Garnish with fresh basil if using.
