- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
- Cut the cold butter into small pieces and add it to the dry mixture. Work it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour this wet mixture into the flour mixture and fold gently.
- Fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed.
- Using a 1/4 cup measure, drop portions of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 11-13 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
- While baking, whisk together confectioner’s sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Briefly broil the fritters for 2-4 minutes for a gorgeous golden top.
- Brush the remaining glaze over the warm fritters and serve.
