Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and add it to the dry mixture. Work it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour this wet mixture into the flour mixture and fold gently.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed.
  6. Using a 1/4 cup measure, drop portions of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 11-13 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  8. While baking, whisk together confectioner’s sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  9. Briefly broil the fritters for 2-4 minutes for a gorgeous golden top.
  10. Brush the remaining glaze over the warm fritters and serve.
