Coating Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • pinch red pepper flakes

Method
 

Preparation Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine ½ cup honey, 2 tablespoons hot sauce, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Heat over medium-low for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  2. Rinse 1 pound of large shrimp and pat them dry thoroughly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
  4. In another bowl, beat 2 eggs with ¼ cup milk until smooth.
  5. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture, dip in the egg wash, and dredge again in flour.
  7. Carefully fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Toss the fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce until thoroughly coated. Serve hot!
