In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Add melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
Cover the loaf with a towel and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes until it rises above the edge of the pan.
Brush the top of the loaf with milk for a golden crust.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
