- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil. Cook ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion is soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Spread the beef mixture in the baking dish, layer sliced potatoes on top, and season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Sprinkle cheddar and parmesan cheese over the potatoes.
- Pour beef broth around the edges of the baking dish and optionally drizzle milk on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.
