  • 1 lb Ground Beef or ground turkey
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 cups Beef Broth low-sodium recommended
  • 2 tbsp Flour for thickening
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce with vinegar
  • 1 tsp Thyme fresh is best
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Dumplings
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Butter cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley optional, for garnish

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat for about 6-8 minutes.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté for 4-5 minutes until the onion is soft.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Gradually stir in beef broth while mixing to avoid lumps. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Let the beef and gravy mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes until it thickens.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt for dumplings. Cut in cold butter.
  7. Stir in milk until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of dough over the simmering beef mixture, cover, and steam for 15 minutes.
  9. Once cooked, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
