For the Sandwich
  • 2 slices Classic Sandwich Bread Consider brioche or sourdough for enhanced flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Can be substituted with olive oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 slice Cheddar Cheese Can swap for mozzarella, provolone, or pepper jack for variations.
  • 4 slices Deli Ham Try turkey breast, crispy bacon, or a vegetarian alternative.
  • 4 large Eggs Opt for free-range eggs for the best flavor.
  • 1 pinch White Pepper Black pepper can be used if it's on hand.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt Adjust to taste for perfect seasoning.

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, crack open four free-range eggs and add a pinch of kosher salt and a sprinkle of white pepper. Beat until fully combined and slightly frothy.
  2. Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and let it melt.
  3. Pour the beaten eggs into the skillet, spreading them evenly. Allow to cook undisturbed for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Butter one side of each slice of bread and place them butter-side up on a clean plate.
  5. Once the eggs are set, place the buttered bread slices on top of the eggs in the skillet. Cook for about 2 minutes.
  6. Carefully slide a spatula beneath the sandwich and flip it over. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Layer a slice of cheddar cheese and several pieces of deli ham on the top slice of bread, and distribute any remaining scrambled egg on top.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and the ingredients meld together.
  9. Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
