Step-by-Step Instructions for Chicken Enchilada Casserole
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken breasts generously with garlic salt and bake for 45 minutes.
  3. Once cooked, shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Char the halved tortillas over an open flame for about 1 minute.
  5. Pour half of the green chile enchilada sauce into the baking dish.
  6. Layer six tortilla halves over the sauce, followed by half of the shredded chicken and one-third of the Monterey Jack cheese.
  7. Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
