Cupcake Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder until well blended.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk, vinegar, and gel food coloring, mixing until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until combined.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tray with paper liners.
  5. Scoop batter into each liner, filling them two-thirds full, and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Frosting Preparation
  1. Beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until light and fluffy.
  2. Pipe the buttercream frosting onto each cupcake, adding sprinkles and a gummy bat for decoration.
  3. Inject a teaspoon of cherry preserve into the center of each cupcake for the surprise filling.
