Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Potatoes: In a large pot, combine the chopped Yukon Gold potatoes and smashed garlic cloves. Cover with cold water, bring to a boil, and cook for about 15 minutes, until fork-tender.
  2. Preheat the Oven: While the potatoes cook, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Mash the Cooked Potatoes: Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Mix in the Creamy Ingredients: Add half of the cheddar cheese, sour cream, milk, butter, rosemary, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Stir until creamy.
  5. Transfer and Top: Transfer the potato mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread it evenly and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  6. Bake the Dish: Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
