Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 slices of thick bread such as Texas toast or challah
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for coating
  • Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Cut each slice of bread into 3 equal sticks.
  3. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated but not soaked. Allow excess mixture to drip off.
  4. In a separate shallow dish, combine the granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
  5. Roll each coated bread stick in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully covered.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with oil.
  7. Place the coated French toast sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. You may need to work in batches.
  8. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce.
