  • 8 ounces smoked salmon sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill for garnish
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1 package of mini bagels or crackers for serving

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until well combined.
  3. Place the smoked salmon pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the salmon generously with the maple mixture, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the salmon is caramelized and slightly sticky.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  6. While the salmon cools, spread a layer of cream cheese on each mini bagel or cracker.
  7. Top each cream cheese spread with a piece of the candied smoked salmon.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh dill before serving.
