Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour mix for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature) Use unsalted for better control over overall saltiness.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • spatula
  • Baking sheets
  • parchment paper
  • Refrigerator

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat unsalted butter with an electric mixer for 5-7 minutes until light and fluffy. Gradually add granulated sugar and light brown sugar, mixing until smooth.
  3. Incorporate eggs one at a time into the butter-sugar mixture, and then add vanilla extract, stirring until creamy.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the buttery egg mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Wrap the cookie dough tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24-36 hours.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough, rolling them into smooth spheres and arranging on the baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until lightly golden around the edges.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Chilling the dough enhances flavors and prevents overspreading, leading to thicker, chewier cookies.
