Description
A delicious layered Mexican pizza that combines the flavors of Tex-Mex cuisine with a crispy tortilla base.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large flour tortillas
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 cup refried beans
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and follow package instructions, usually adding a little water and simmering for a few minutes.
- On a baking sheet, place one tortilla and spread the refried beans evenly over the top.
- Layer half of the seasoned beef over the beans, followed by half of the salsa and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Place the second tortilla on top and repeat the layering process with the remaining beef, salsa, and cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Top with lettuce, diced tomato, black olives, green onions, and a dollop of sour cream before slicing.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños between the layers or use spicy salsa.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
