Description

Spicy Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are a flavorful and healthy dish that combines seasoned ground beef with fresh lettuce leaves for a delicious wrap.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 head of butter or romaine lettuce, leaves separated
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic and diced red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the pepper softens.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, ground ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in chopped green onions and cilantro if using.
  6. To serve, spoon the beef mixture into the lettuce leaves, squeeze lime juice over the top, and enjoy!

Notes

  • For added crunch, consider topping the wraps with chopped peanuts or cashews.
  • You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • For a vegetarian version, use crumbled tofu or tempeh instead of ground beef.
