Description
Spicy Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are a flavorful and healthy dish that combines seasoned ground beef with fresh lettuce leaves for a delicious wrap.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 head of butter or romaine lettuce, leaves separated
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and diced red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the pepper softens.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, ground ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped green onions and cilantro if using.
- To serve, spoon the beef mixture into the lettuce leaves, squeeze lime juice over the top, and enjoy!
Notes
- For added crunch, consider topping the wraps with chopped peanuts or cashews.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- For a vegetarian version, use crumbled tofu or tempeh instead of ground beef.
