Description
A simple and delicious recipe for oven-baked Italian meatballs that are perfect for serving with marinara sauce or over pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup marinara sauce (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about an inch apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and browned on the outside.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve them warm with the marinara sauce on the side or over pasta.
Notes
- For added flavor, try adding a teaspoon of Italian seasoning to the meat mixture.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Serve the meatballs in a sub roll with melted cheese for a delicious meatball sandwich.
