Description
Okinawan Taco Rice is a delicious fusion dish that combines traditional Okinawan flavors with classic taco ingredients, creating a unique and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 1/4 cup salsa
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and a splash of water (about 2 tablespoons). Mix well and let simmer for 2-3 minutes until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a large bowl, layer the cooked rice, followed by the seasoned beef.
- Top the beef with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.
- Add a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of green onions on top.
- Serve with salsa on the side for drizzling.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or hot sauce to the topping.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- For a vegetarian version, use black beans or lentils in place of the meat.
