Description

A delicious and simple recipe for Korean Ground Beef served with wilted Napa slaw, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups napa cabbage, chopped
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. In a separate large pan, add the chopped napa cabbage and julienned carrot. Cook over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is wilted.
  5. Combine the wilted slaw with the ground beef mixture and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Add sliced bell peppers or snap peas to the slaw for extra crunch and flavor.
