Description

A delicious and easy recipe for General Tso’s Chicken Bowls, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers (any color)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Pour this sauce over the cooked chicken, stirring to combine.
  4. Add the broccoli florets and sliced bell peppers to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. To serve, place a scoop of jasmine rice in a bowl, top with the General Tso’s chicken mixture, and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute brown rice for jasmine rice.
  • Add other vegetables like snap peas or carrots for extra color and nutrition.
