Description
Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches are a delightful dessert that combines the flavors of fresh strawberries and creamy cheesecake, all encased in a crispy, golden-brown coating.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
- 1 cup crushed graham crackers
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to macerate.
- In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on two slices of bread. Top with the macerated strawberries, then place the remaining slices of bread on top to create sandwiches.
- In a shallow dish, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Dip each sandwich first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with crushed graham crackers.
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the sandwiches, frying until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Remove the sandwiches and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate twist, add a layer of chocolate spread along with the cream cheese.
- Substitute the strawberries with other fruits like blueberries or bananas for a different flavor.
