Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 slices of thick bread (such as Texas toast or challah)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Cut each slice of bread into 3 equal sticks.
- Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated but not soaked. Allow excess mixture to drip off.
- In a separate shallow dish, combine the granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
- Roll each coated bread stick in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully covered.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with oil.
- Place the coated French toast sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. You may need to work in batches.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the air fryer and serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a fun twist, try adding a tablespoon of cocoa powder to the cinnamon sugar mixture for a chocolatey flavor.
- You can also substitute the bread with gluten-free bread to make this recipe gluten-free.
