Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink.
- Pour the marinara sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet and toss everything together until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top of the pasta mixture. Cover the skillet and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- For a healthier twist, substitute whole wheat pasta or zucchini noodles for the penne.
- Add sautéed vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms to the dish for extra flavor and nutrition.
