Description

A delicious recipe for Chicken and Waffle Bites, combining crispy fried chicken with mini waffles and drizzled with maple syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (plus extra for drizzling)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Waffle mix (for mini waffles, follow package instructions for 12 mini waffles)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk.
  3. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully covered.
  4. In a separate shallow dish, pour the cornmeal.
  5. After coating the chicken in flour, dip it into the cornmeal for an extra crunch.
  6. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  7. Once hot, carefully add the chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Prepare the mini waffles according to the package instructions.
  10. Assemble by placing a piece of fried chicken on each mini waffle and drizzle with maple syrup.
  11. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture for a spicy kick.
  • You can substitute the chicken with turkey or tofu for a different protein option.
